A VERY WARM WELCOME

inclusive church.png

Thank you for visiting the website of Crowborough United Church.

We are a Christian worshipping community, set in the 'Pooh Bear' countryside of East Sussex, serving its biggest inland town of Crowborough.

We are an inclusive church and we genuinely say 'ALL ARE WELCOME'

We meet each Sunday for our main act of worship at 10:30am. Once a month we have a Café Church service (usually the fourth Sunday).

We also have Messy Church and Communion services at other times. Check out our News page for further details.

If you'd like to know more about us, please take some time to explore the site further.  Of course we'd love to meet you, so be assured of a warm and friendly welcome when you choose to visit us.

Best Summer Ever_edited.jpg

Embrace those ‘Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer.’

I can remember as a child welcoming with great excitement of summer holidays with NO SCHOOL! YES! I was a happy child; I would easily entertain my self in the garden or with friends or get on my bike and just ride. I would often just swing for hours looking up at the blue sky watching the clouds and seeing their different shapes come and go, where they sky whales or elephants or spaceships. I would wait patiently at the pond waiting for fish or tadpoles to feel safe enough to sit on my hand, and then gently release them. I was fascinated by nature and the wonders of creation, I remember one day sitting fascinated as the resident frog waited for the wasps to come to the water for a drink only to grab it as a tasty mid-morning snack.

Yes, I am fully aware that I lived a privileged life in that end of terrace house in rural Buckinghamshire, but I loved being free just to be me! No adult worries that my parents had of making ends meet, just enjoying the seemingly endless summer months and the added bonus of a promise of a holiday with my family toward the end of it all.

Yes those Genesis chapter 1 images and thoughts of the beautiful, bountiful and tranquil Garden of Eden come to mind when I think of my childhood summer holidays and yet in life we often leave those memories behind often talking of them as nostalgic or viewing that stage of life through ‘rose coloured spectacles’ but now in my older age am beginning to think that that is how God intended for life to be and we step in and go our own way, crucifying the Garden of Eden that God has for each one of us on the cross of so called maturity but I am tempted to call wanting to be in control of everything but God often calls it simply; sin!

Perhaps in these lazy days of summer take time to rest and remember God’s good provision for you and that he wants to bless you. Life may well be difficult for you at present, but God still wants his children to be blessed and at peace. Take time out of you day to rest in God’s loving embrace, ‘wander in the garden’ with him, so to speak, and let him refresh and renew you.

God bless you

Andy
